I wouldn't consider living in Arizona, since first visiting friends in Tempe about 1979 when it was 108F. We left the San Francisco Bay Area in part due to the hot summers, brown hills and lack of rain. We have been back several times and explored other parts of the state, but a week or two before June is a nice vacation.

Seriously, with all these negatives, why would anyone from California or anywhere else for that matter want to ever move here? I'm sure the huge cost difference between here and the neighbor to the west isn't worth all these bad things! New Mexico and Colorado are just as or more pretty.
Always nice to see this thread lives on!

I'm always glad when TeddyEarp brings this thread out of hibernation. We want moar, I mean more wit and sarcasm that lots of people here just don't get or understand.

I am back in Tucson at present for a roughly one month stay, after another 1800 mile road trip from Ohio via IN, IL, MO, KS, OK, TX and NM. I drove the route in just over 2 days.

This morning I went out for a 36 mile bike ride along the Rillito River and Santa Cruz River bike paths, then through mid-town Tucson. Hey, I only saw two homeless tents along the Santa Cruz River bike path - looks like the local authorities cleared out many of the encampments, but the piles of trash are still along the Santa Cruz River trail near the major underpasses.
