My wife and I have decided to move from Naples, Florida after 15 years. We are tired of playing Russian Roulette with the hurricanes, including 4 past majors and a direct hit from Irma last year.

My wife's cousin lives in Green Valley, so we are vaguely familiar with Arizona. We are looking for an area that has similar temps to Green Valley, but with gated communities (aka; housing developments) that have a entrance guardhouse that is manned 24/7.

Do such communities exist anywhere in Arizona?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks very much for your information.

I think Arizona maybe has a different definition of a gated community than Florida. Gated communities here have an entrance guardhouse that is manned 24-7. Visitors drive through a visitor lane at the guardhouse and get the homeowners permission to enter, or are placed on a permanent visitors list. The communities normally have a Town Center administration building, usually with a town manager, HOA compliance officer, and various meeting and recreation rooms. Amenities may vary from tennis courts, swimming pools, golf, etc. (We are not looking for a bunch of amenities in Arizona, but like the 24-7 guardhouse and Town Center)

We are shying away from Green Valley itself, because of the huge mine there and the dust it creates (my wife has asthma.)

Any other ideas? TX!

Hi, KIRK1950; you would probably get more responses posting this in the Tucson forum. Green Valley is Tucson region; various regular members from Green Valley who seem knowledgeable. Hope you find out what you need.

Yeah, not sure if we have those types of gated communities here. The ones I've seen are the card lock style, not manned guard towers. Must be the attitude out west differs some from that out east.

That’s http://www.riverviewrvresort.net. They aren’t called guards, but are referred to as courtesy officers.
