(Although to be fair, so are left lane speeders.)

Good to see Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb out there enforcing the law against left-lane hogs.Check him out on youtube: https://youtu.be/Kj0qRCdsMSA

I like that he quotes ARS as he pulls over slow drivers in the left lane: "On all roadways, a person driving a vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall drive the vehicle in the right-hand lane." So much for the argument that, "I'm going the speed limit, so I can drive in any lane I want."

Anybody wish the other law enforcement in Arizona would take an interest in this problem?

I agree, but it's important to understand that this applies on straight road and not at intersections. The situation I'm talking about is when a driver makes a left turn onto a street with four or more lanes. The turn should take the driver into the left lane, the one closest when making the turn. Some drivers cheat and make a left turn into the right lane, which is a dangerous manoeuvre that can bring the car into conflict with traffic already on the road or entering from the other side. I often exit my neighborhood via a left turn. Because I'm not a fast driver, I'll sometimes sense impatience on the part of the driver behind me immediately after we both make a left turn. I try to move to the right at the first opportunity, but sometimes an aggressive driver behind me will try to pass on the right before I can even do that. Trying to put it succinctly: Yes, slower drivers should keep to the right, but left turns should flow into the left lane, and slower drivers should be given a minute or two to move into the right lane after the turn is complete.

^Different situation. I’m not referring to what drivers do before a left turn. I’m talking about what happens after the turn.

That video should be mandatory viewing for all newcomers. I do wish the ARS wouldn’t give exception to wider roadways, but that doesn’t exempt people from using common sense.

I-17 going from Anthem to Flagstaff/Prescott and back is notorious for left lane campers. They need to crack down on that area also.

Precisely, but with all due respect, that situation is not the subject of this thread, that is what KurtAZ was getting at. I have problems with it.

But I also cannot stand left lane hoggers. The law is pretty clear to stay right except to pass. When I went to the valley for the rally a couple of weekends ago, I was getting passed on both sides since I am not as familiar with the valley freeways as, well, the valley folks. I pretty much tried to stay one lane to the left of the far right lane going in (at night) and second from the far left (daylight) going out. Though it was much easier for this old man to keep up with the flow in the daylight, lol.

The bottom line---Too many people with too little restraint. Every time I'm in my car I see the antics of the stupid/impatient, speeding, tailgating, multiple lane changes in an attempt to maneuver to a more open path in traffic (of course there isn't any) and just a lot of stupid stuff on the part of those who really can't share the road. Just this AM I read about a 61 yr old women out delivering newspapers who was shot by an angry youth who was pissed about her going slow. Get a grip folks...

AND, if tons of drivers out here dont already have a total disregard for not only the rules, but, just basic, common, driving courtesy, now our idiotic legislature wants to remove any fines/tickets/consequences for idiots speeding up to 10mph over...Like these nimrods care whether they get a ticket or not, while flying down residential streets, but to actually make it a no harm foul to do so?????? Sometimes I just have to shake my head at the stupidity that seems to reign out here...Isnt it bad enough we had to give the "mouth breathers" almost 2 years before they start getting tickets for holding that *****en cell phone to their face while driving???

That’s not the bottom line at all. It’s to respect the rules of the road so traffic flows.
