I think the master planned communities are great for families w/ children. They offer so much in terms of schools that are built for the community, activites, etc. I would imagine all of this provides a great sense of community for residents.

My husband's commute time to work in Scottsdale isn't an issue for him. He starts earlier & it only takes him 1/2 hr. to get to work. Back home it takes 35 - 40 min & he doesn't mind it at all.

If we had all the money in the world, I'd still stay in the Peoria/Glendale area. Well let's be realistic, if I had all the money in the world - I'd buy my own island in the Caribbean! But seriously, I really like this area, feel like it has alot to offer in terms of shopping, dining, activities and if I want more cultural experiences we're not far from Scottsdale, Tempe & downtown Phoenix. Besides, you get much more house for your money in this area (w/ the exception of Arrowhead Lakes) than you would in Scottsdale.
I agree with everything you said greyhoundsrule. Over the years, we've lived mostly in non-master planned communities. We live in Vistancia, a MPC, now and would only choose a MPC if we had to move again. We love how the amenities and especially the activities and events enable people to make friends all over the community faster.

Hi - lived in Mesa for over ten years, originally from Long Island - the crime is overrated. I would consider Mesa - Chandler is expensive, Queen Creek is to far away - there are sections like in any town that you can afford in Scottsdale, don't let its reputation scare you. It is a tourist town so come winter don't plan on going out to eat, etc u won't be able to get in anywhere - the traffic is gridlock from 3:30 on - since there are a lot of "call centers" etc in the valley and diff. shifts thats when the traffic starts. Need anything else -just email
