What are you talking about? I believe the person you were replying to was referring to porn movie actors, and they were saying they usually die early deaths from various types of STDs.

Sounds to me that the townies are hassling the employees at the Adult Store to make it so no one will want to work there and effectively shut the place down.

Someone is buying all that porn and I am positive it aint me. If they were not making any money they would surely close their doors. Either you all have lots of people driving lots of miles to buy something or the nice Church going people of the town are spending their money there. I have little knowledge of your part of the world. Is it possible that people are driving miles to purchase porn because other towns don't sell it, or is it more believable that the town can support this store on its own?

I know out here where I come from we were able to put an Adult Movie theatre out of business by watching who entered the place day and night. Over time the place didn't have the customers it needed to keep the doors open. I have to admit that was before everyone had a way to watch video or CD's at home.

No, there's not.

I travel through TN on I-40 all the time. There's one of those things between Memphis and Jackson (90 mile stretch), one or two between Jackson and Nashville (130 mile stretch), and one or two between Nashville and Knoxville (180 mile stretch). I'm not aware of any east beyond Knoxville. So that's five at most over a stretch of interstate that's more than 450 miles long.

Heck, on I-40 in Arkansas, there are two of those places at ONE EXIT alone. And that exit is out in the middle of Nowheresville (between Forrest City and West Memphis, I think). Then there's the one in Clarksville. So that's at least three on a stretch of I-40 that is much shorter than I-40 through TN.

So let's not get into a whole pot and kettle situation, ok.

Actually, that's not really true.
It's a long story as to how I came to Googling this information, but porn stars really don't have that many diseases. I don't know about the foreign ones, but I know in the US a lot of adult movie producers ask that their "actors" get tested on a regular basis so as to not spread anything around (that's if they're not using protection in their movies).

There have been a few cases of porn stars contracting HIV, and if they're still working in that industry they always have to use protection. Still, once people find out no one really wants to work with you anyway (in that field).

You'd be surprise as to how many of these porn stars actually have a college degree.

It could've been different ten to fifteen years ago, but that's what I've gathered from my research about how the porn industry is today. Like I said, long story as to how I wondered onto that information.


As for the issue of porn. I don't see what the big deal is. If there isn't a demand for it that place would go out of business.
It's not for everyone. If you don't like it don't look at it, don't do it, don't go near it, whatever, but why try to dictate what others do if they're not breaking any laws?

Hopefully I'll be traveling west here in the near future and I'll take pictures/video's for you. I've had friends/family members ask me why there were so many advertisements/stores when they drove here to visit. It's always a few jokes flying around as to why there were so many the minute they crossed over in TN. And these are also out in the middle of Nowheresville also. We laughed thinking maybe it was because there was nothing else to do for some.
