Mindanao and Western Visayas

both places are off the beaten path...I hardly see any tourists in those areas

I think both places are areas with much potential

But maybe the allure of those places is probably because there are no tourists

I thought Eastern Visayas is more underrated. ARMM is also lacking of tourists too, but mainly due to political instability.

I've been to Iloilo twice. The first time because I'd never been there, and the second time because I was passing through once again. On the second visit, I wondered why I'd ever bothered.

There really isn't a reason to visit Iloilo. I definitely wouldn't say it's underrated. Korean students go there because they like malls and its a bit safer to study English there than a city like Manila.

Iloilo is known for its old Spanish churches and buildings, one of them being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But if you're not an architecture and history person, I guess you'll not enjoy it there.
