Well I don't like it how they import a lot of Chinese workers instead of using locals. Sure there might be benefit, but I feel it's more exploitation like how the European colonial powers exploited Africa before.
China's policy is different from the one's used by the USA or European powers. Unlike the latter, China doesn't care about the regimes that exist in a particular country. All they care about is the resources available there. This is why they do business with dictatorships, they simply don't care how some groups dominate their countries as long as the business deals are done! No meddling in internal affairs and no attempt at making the world more like China (unlike the USA that is always expressing and pressuring other societies to adopt its culture and values.)

Like the US has been averse to doing business with dictatorships .

The US does business with dictatorships that accept a pro-US stance and the US expects loyalty in return. The Chinese do business with anyone regardless of their stance and the Chinese don't care to change any regime's tendency. That's the difference.
The Chinese do business with no strings attached, while the US does business with the strings.
