Saw a bit of that. Yeah it is a bit unhygenic, but no worse than seeing chewing gum stuck everywhere or cigarette butts everywhere.

the majority of mainlanders believe taiwan is backward compared to Beijing or Shanghai. A lot of coastal regions are of at least similar development as Taiwan.

IMO Taiwan is somewhere between Mainland China costal cities and Hong Kong. There's a significant difference with people from Taipei compared to other southern parts of Taiwan, but the education, background and other aspects are significantly higher in Taiwan then in the Mainland. I would still not consider Taiwanese as educated or western as Hong Kong people.

I find the people in Taipei pretty educated and refined. Actually, I would say that most people from Hong Kong are just rude.

Taiwan seems to have a mild economic problem like that of Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain in recent years. Economic growth rates in South Korea, Mainland China and Eastern Europe are higher than Taiwan and Southern Europe.

About the equality, yeah Taiwan is more equal than HK and Singapore, for now.But I don"t really think equality of property necessarily links to development.Of course equality is fantastic, everybody is jealous of Nordic five, but I don't think having a huuuuuge gap between rich and poor means the country is less developed.Yeah maybe Taiwan seems more "equal" than the US or Sing or HK(the gap is getting wider over the years though),but that's more like a problem instead of an indication of developed or not.

That just shows their ignorance, or maybe PRC propaganda...

Yes, Taiwanese are nicer and friendlier than Hong Kongers.
