I wouldn't sign it, years ago I might have because of wanting to avoid questions and remarks but now I've got to thinking differently....

one word. compassion. not to mention "going with the flow" meaning it is expected of you being a person with good manners and right conduct. also think of how you will feel if you were on the other end. anyway seeing as this co worker is nasty though, i doubt it even cares of his MIL's death. what did u eventually do anyway?

I wouldn't sign it either. I am quite sure he isn't going to ruminate over every signature or lack thereof in a card.
