Strictly bush league.
But if something like this happens in Atlanta, there are people waiting to pounce with "Why can't Atlanta...". We all know that this crap can happen in any city anywhere. It's just nonsense to act like this only occurs here or that Atlanta has some special corner on the market.

Has this in fact happened elsewhere?

ETA: If this is going on elsewhere -- and I haven't heard of it -- it's equally bush league and those cities likewise need to get a grip on their population. This is about the behavior of the residents, not the city per se.

I have no idea, but is it okay to act like it could only happen in Atlanta?

As far as I know it hadn't happened here prior to this, and there are several free outdoor movie events throughout Atlanta during the summer months. To imply that Atlanta is incapable of having such events without violence is false.

I wouldn't say that it's "going on" here either...it happened, but it's not continuous and hopefully it won't happen in the future.

I agree 100%. Rowdy behavior at events such as Screen on the Green could be halted immediately if the bubbas who are doing it, like, quit acting rowdy. As you say, it didn't happen for years until recently. That's because people didn't behave like stupid rednecks.

And it doesn't happen at 99% of events in Atlanta or anywhere else...it seems like there is always someone trying to blow this type of thing out of proportion.

I must agree. If this event were held in a more sophisticated part of the city, such as East Point or Panthersville, then the redneck element would not be a factor. I'm not sure why so many of these persons live in the city.

I have heard where cities like NYC have had troubles too. Someone I know recently noticed a Crate and Barrel open on the block. It's all downhill from there.

Its not so much the rednecks, but the Amish kids who were birthed by a "baby momma" at 16 so she can get a welfare check and grow up without a father in the home. Its the same old thing everywhere you go in the country....Amish kids creating havoc and taking away the enjoyable things in life.

The many people who were affected don't seem to believe it was blown out of proportion. Nor does the Mayor.

If I'd been out there with my grandkids and people were fighting, throwing rocks and attacking folks who'd come to see the movie, I would not have felt comfortable at all.
