I'm retired, sold my car, and bought a 50cc "trike" scooter (2 wheels in the back) for safety and balance concerns. Like you said, no tag or insurance >100 mpg. Buy locally from a full service dealer. I live close to the Marietta Square and it is great for local trips to shop (mine has basket on front and storage in rear), doctor's office, visit family, etc. Paying for a cab or local bus fare one or twice a month is a lot cheaper than tags, insurance, gas, or even a car payment. My dealer is about a mile away so service and maintenance is not a concern for me. Just do your research on brand reviews and buy local. Sales tax will be less than shipping costs and set up fees done by a local dealer anyway. Buy the best quality you can afford. I dont miss my car a bit.

They're basically the same mopeds you'd rent in Key West etc. I actually hadn't seen too many of them and had a friend visiting last week and each time we passed one - she remarked - look, another drunk. Apparantly there's a stigma that since you don't need insurane/license - it's the mobility of choice for those who have had DUI's. I had never heard it - but I guess it's out there. I still think they're cool and wouldn't be opposed to getting one.

you may not need a tag or insurance but you have to be at least 16 and have a drivers license to drive a 50cc on the street.they are not allowed on interstates or streets and highways with a minimum posted speed of 35mph or higher. my scooter runs on premium, 400 mile break in period with a maximum 25mph during that time frame. my dealer twistedmotorsportsllc.com. good people.
