I know the construction for the Downtown Loop of the Atlanta Streetcar broke ground last year since it got funded by a federal grant for the TIGER project. Does anybody have an update of the current progress of the construction? Originally it was supposed to start service next year.

At this rate the Beltline shouldn't take too long to build their loop, in theory.

Would had been a LOT cheaper to just use Electric or hybrid Bus ?

(like the city of Chattanooga did / Home Page & http://www.afdc.energy.gov/pdfs/chatt_cs.pdf). they also provide FREE wifi on them.

And then they could had just fixed the current roads we ALL drive on.

I totally agree with you. I really do not see the benefit of streetcars other than tourism. Ironically, tourists wont come purely to see the car.
