For instance, here's a photo from the days when politicians were truly intrepid. The governors of several southern states and their wives clambered down the mountain to have dinner on the face of the carving. You just don't see that sort of thing anymore.
Can't tell....looks like sandwiches. I don't spot any silverware.

Anyone born after 1979 can't prepare a correct food order at Waffle House twice in a row much less add to the world's largest relief carving over a span of decades.

You are grossly underestimating the power of social media. If enough people take cellphone videos, tweet and post to Facebook, it will happen.

I don't really care if it's remove or not but let's be clear. MLK I Have A Dream” Speech "Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia" there's a reason why this was said.

The carving was built as romanticism of hate, the freakin caving was cave by the klan. the second founding of the klan was founded on top of stone mountain. Their's a differences in teaching history and romanticism, positive history is be celebrate and honor, negative history is not. To teach about the Confederacy is one thing to honor it is another. In this case the romanticism, cause and purpose was hate.

I'm not coming at you but do you really want Atlanta to be known for this. "to be Georgia's most famous work of art"

It's insulting comparing the stone mountain caving to MT Rushmore. MT Rushmore is something to celebrate.

I agree with this because it would change the meaning in general, and it's more practical. Then it would become something Atlanta and Georgia could be proud to boast.

Whatever you think of the subject matter, it is an historical work of art that should not be altered. Period.

Maybe the entire mountain should be destroyed since the Klan met there?

That's the poorest written news snippet I've ever read! Where did it run?

It's from wikimedia. Who knows who created it. If you are using Firefox right click on the image and select "view property's".

It was probably just in some lame internal klan newsletter. Nothing that crappy would ever run in any real media outlet.

With all the real issues we have in this country, this isn't what we need to focus on right now. It's a just a big rock.

What if Germany never did much to eradicate it's Nazi past? Hey, it was a part of the past, it should be honored! They went pretty far and wide to try to erase any reference to it and I think they're better for it. That doesn't mean they don't still learn about it in school and pretend it never happened, but I don't think you'll find many swastikas or monuments to Hitler around Germany.
Perfect summary of my thoughts. And let's not forget that for the most part, the swastika generally can't even be publicly displayed in Germany.
