Trust me.
I agree with that part 100%. It's a 5 min walk to Vine City Marta Station.

The Falcon's own studies show the difference in transit use between the north site and south site would be 10,000 people per game. So yes, it does make a huge difference. People won't take transit if it's inconvenient. This has to be built at the South site, or not built at all.

I always wanted it on the larger north site, so I'm loving this! The south site is too cramped by the AUC and Castleberry Hill, but the north site is at the intersection of two huge streets. I hope they build it north, where the view from the stadium will be better, and it'll be higher on the hill for all to see (and not far from Mims Park).

Have you guys actually been to a Falcons game or anything else at the Dome? Like seriously?

I've made that trek from the North site before and while it's doable (I'm young), but I can see where a lot of people would hate. Especially with that hill....

The north site is terrible. There is nothing around it, but parking lots. At least the south site is close to CNN Center, Castleberry Hill, Downtown, and existing MARTA stations. People complain that the walk from GA State to Turner Field is too long, they will not walk from Civic Center, Dome, or Vine City stations to the north site. People complain about the Braves shuttle, they will complain about a shuttle to the north site too.
Of course the church isn't going to accept the first offer.

It should be the south site. That is every who is involved preference for good reason. Hopefully they end up with it.

They aren't saying "no", they just want more money.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told WXIA-TV about the offer extended to Friendship Baptist Church, adding, “We can’t afford that, so we sent back an offer of $15.5 million.”
Reed said negotiations are going well, and will probably move faster than other similar-sized projects around the country. He said he is "60-70 percent confident" a deal would be reached in the next two to three weeks with Friendship Baptist.

It's equidistant from Vine City Station and Civic Center Station, so the post-game crowds would be split instead of all crowding onto trains at the same stations. The crowd going north would be able to bypass Five Points Station all together, and people traveling east wouldn't have to cram into trains before half of the people get off at Five Points.

Besides that, they've already proposed a new Joseph Boone Station across Northside from the new stadium site, which would make MARTA access between the two stadium sites a wash.

The people that park in the Yellow Lot, where the stadium would be built, already walk that far. Some people park as far away as Midtown. And, yes, half a mile is not far.

Joesph E. Boone Station will not be built until transit on the westside BeltLine is built.

Clearly, that could change if the city decides to build the stadium on the north site.

Developers are champing at the bit to add more development there, and there was a map of who owns those parcels in the AJC recently. As far as proximity, the north site is closer to Pemberton Place and the Ivan Allen district, which could see more development if the stadium is build on the same street.

Expand the sidewalks on Northside Drive.

For transit purposes, 1/2 mile is the outer limit that most transit planners use when considering "transit accessiblilty." Purposefuly building a billion-dollar stadium away from two existing MARTA stations would be one of the biggest mistakes Atlanta would make in its developmental history (along with not putting Olympic Stadium/Turner Field closer to a MARTA station).

That site is over a mile away from the north site, is in one of the worst neigborhoods in the city, and is on branch line that few people will use.

Yellow Lot users do that by choice in order to tailgate (which is fine). Your average transit user won't be as inclined to walk that distance, especially if they've walked from the Dome and Vine City station to the current stadium.
