Get out of your cars and walk, Atlanta! It's good for ya! Sheesh.
It's not only an easy walk, it's a shorter walk than a lot of people who drive end up walking. Drive down Marietta Street on any game day and look at all the people walking from far flung parking lots.

I'm not a fan of a new stadium anyway, but with that said...

I think the North site is better for visibility and prominence. The south site has easier current access.

I'm honestly surprised that they didn't choose the sea of parking lots between MLK, Spring, and Centennial for the new site. Direct MARTA access, no buildings to negotiate with, right at the border of downtown. Must be a good reason.

With the north site though, I would build a pedestrian walkway over the railroad tracks between GWCC halls A and B to get from the MARTA station to the stadium. Although I could see exhaust from the trains causing a problem there.

Also, are the tracks on the east side of GWCC Hall A active? It seems like they run to around Five Points underneath Philips. I wonder if that could be made into a light rail for game days?

Btw if they do receive that money they should not expect their members to give any offerings for the next 50 years

And why is the city of Atlanta buying this land? I thought that was supposed to be the GWCCA's obligation. Won't they wind up owning the stadium 50 years from now?

Just as a note: The appraisal for the property is about $1 million.

I assume that was before the stadium people decided they wanted it.

I still don't understand why the city is buying this property. Wasn't the site acquisition supposed to be provided by the GWCCA at their expense?

Do you really think that a rundown old church in Vine City is worth more than $13 million?

Because that is the location where the new MMPT transit center will be built.
