My wife commuted from Smyrna to Alpharetta every day for over 2 years until she took a new job a couple months ago & did it in good time if she got out of the house by 7:30. Yes, the stretch between 75 & 400 on 285 can get bad, but there are alternate routes you can take if you decide to sleep in. Just get up & out ahead of the traffic, it is fine.

A commute to the King/Queen building from Smyrna would be no worse, and likely better, than a commute from Decatur, VaHi/Morningside, or West Buckhead.

I agree it isn't an impossible commute, better than some areas for the OP-- but I'm thinking it is still at least 30 mins. What do you mean by good time if she left by 7:30? What if she left at 8? How bout 8:30? It would help the OP to have actual times.
