Hello,

Last week, we visit Douglasville from South Florida. We saw a brand new development in Douglasville with super affordable houses. I believe the community is call Brookmont, sits in between Chapel Hill and Fairburn road.

It makes me wonder why is it so cheap now? Is Douglasville a bad city to live? Right now just two of us no children yet. Compare to Gwinette, we can buy the same brand new house in Lawrenceville for 30k less.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I find it country and I really mean country.

Granted, I have not seen chickens walking around the yard like in some areas of Kennesaw, but I had never seen confederate flags flying off the rafters of homes like I did in Douglasville. Specifically, after driving through Lithia Springs next a railroad track and making a left to get to Arbor Place Mall.

Douglasville seems to have a strong sense of community, long time residents, and even diversity so I'm not trying make it sound like "the land of cotton" but I'm just saying...if the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard had cut me off at an intersection, I would not have been in the least surprised.

It's kind difficult to describe but it appears everybody gets along and it is safe BUT I probably couldn't live there unless...well, let's just say it's rural.

It is minority friendly--there are lots of minorities in Douglasville/Douglas County.

There's plenty of minorities now....Lithia Springs is loaded, and it only gets more so the closer to I-285 you get....Douglasville kind of stays in time......it's only getting more diverse over time. 25 years ago, it was predominantly white....now? Probably not but, those that live there for a few years tend to stay there...

not sure about safety (don't think it's a bad place at all, standard minor incidents you have everywhere)...commuting to the airport is actually a breeze from Douglasville. You can take Thornton Road (GA HWY 6) East which turns into Camp Creek Parkway. You will literally drive right into the airport.

Just because a place has lots of minorities doesn't mean it's not redneck.

I've been all over the metro. All over. Around Douglasville is the *ONLY* part of the metro where I have seen Confederate flags flying.

I think it's redneck over there. Not everybody who lives there, of course, but a lot moreso than most other areas that are of similar distance from the city.
