The Mayor is too busy talking over reporters during press interviews (including the CNN reporter Carol Costello this morning) about what a great job the city is doing, so he has no time to take responsibility.

They refused to pretreat the roads.

Had several days notice and didn't cancel schools.

Plenty of other areas canceled school ahead of time.

I can't believe your Ga governor is blaming truckers who jack knifed by not having chains (are you kidding) and now he is
Blaming the national weather service for an inaccurate weather forecast. Apparently to this guy nothing ever happened.

Still trying to figure out how the mayor can take "responsibility" when he doesn't control the plowing/sanding of interstates and major roads???

He's trying not to throw the state DOT under the bus because he's pals with Gov Deal.

It may not snow all season or every year but the fact remains is that Atlanta does get ice and snow and they need to invest in the equipment and resources to remove it...PERIOD!!!

The CITY of Atlanta only holds one tenth of the metro population. The issue is much larger than the city proper.

Other areas besides Atlanta area. Many areas had worse weather than ATL but kids were safe at home.

They had plenty of warning, but decided to do nothing.

That's correct. And that's the biggest issue, EVERYONE, including schools and DOT, listened to faulty weather reports that the storm would hit south metro - and it didn't.

So ATL, Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, and other northen counties didn't cancel. And ATL public schools are 1/10 the size of Cobb and Gwinnett's, so really it was a metro area issue.
