Nunn or Perdue? Who do you prefer and why?

i don't think michelle nunn really sees it now, but i think kingston losing last night was a blessing in disguise.

georgia is a turnout state; there aren't a lot of swing voters. whoever wants to win the election simply has to get the most of their party's voters to show up at the polls; this is why obama came close to winning georgia in 2008— it wasn't the swing voters who liked obama, it was the base voters who turned out.

jack kingston was more conservative than david perdue, and he was the one who was getting the tea party's support, the US chamber of commerce's support, he was showing up on fox news, etc.

i think, had he been the nominee, he would have riled up the base in a way i don't think david perdue can.

now it is up to michelle nunn to get her base to show up in large numbers this november, without sending the wrong message to the republican base, which may get them to show up in large numbers, if they don't like her. with jason carter also on the ticket, a lot is at stake this november, and i think the national democratic party will see that— that means more money will go into this race.

the republicans, on the other hand, i think are trying to get back some of the seats they lost in 2008, so they may overlook georgia. of course, the exact opposite could be said, and we won't know until we start seeing more ads come out.

the bad news for michelle is that the attack ads are already starting— i saw one this morning. she needs to step up her game if she wants to get the senate seat. i think she wasted enough time during the primary doing nothing, when she could have been defining the candidates.

Either one IMO would be better than Kingston, he is bad news.

Instead of staying why I would vote for Nunn, I'd like to start with why I wouldn't vote for Perdue. He's just more of the same ole - same ole, he's even related to the "same ole" boys. I've also worked for his previous company, Dollar General, before and I can say with confidence I would never vote for an executive from there EVER. These are some of the sorriest and greediest men on the earth. He'd rather you have a heart attack working 70 hours a week for less than 30k a year as store manager than find you more help so he could get another million on his bonus. And his stance on the issues are the same things I've been saying Republicans since the 90s have needed to work on. I liked that he's for term limits, but again we've got a man who wants to legislate his personal feelings on social issues and give hand outs to his corporate friends.

I agree that she needs to promote herself more, but it could be a finance issue. I encourage everyone to contact her, see what you can do, and get all your friends to come out and vote. The biggest impact comes from those on the ground who spread the message.

Agreed. I currently support Michelle Nunn - but I am going to need to see some dynamism from her. That being said - I don't know that I would have a problem with Perdue as well - he's a Wramblin Wreck - and I am presuming form his resume he has a strong Fortune 500 network - which is good for Atlanta. of course his resume is all companies that have eithered shipped jobs offshore or actively ghettofy neighborhoods so there's that.

But if he wins - I am totally prepared for him to fall in line with the do-nothing caucus of republicans up in DC. I would have preferred his skillset in the governorship (if Jason Carter wasn't running). I don't think there is any hope for an "outsider" in DC.

Agreed, this is why I voted for Perdue in the runoff, but I'll be voting Nunn in November.

His jobs are not good for Georgian or even America. I've worked at two of them and I can tell you, these businesses are the scum that grows on the under side of the bottom of the barrel. You can also be assured he is not going to be vocal for Georgia or the good of America. I forsee him at a lot of fundraisers laughing over how Georgia is still a Republican haven for a little longer. Every single Democrat and Independent needs to be at the voting booth if they want the lock on the state to end.
