Put Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties together. Rail expansion on I-20, 400, and Clifton corridor. GDOT needs to pay for the I-20/I-285 interchange upgrades.

Default lobbying has begun for the share of the $100M bond for transit

The jockeying for $100M in transit funding has already begun | Political Insider blog
MARTA should get majority of it since it carries majority of transit riders in the state. GRTA should get $0 since it is already funded by the state.

And let Fulton, Dekalb, and Clayton (Atlanta too!) put together the funding for Transit/Rail and negotiate directly with the Feds for any matching funds.

The stupid boobs at the Gold Dome should not be trusted to negotiate with D.C. to get decent transportation measures accomplished in Metro Atlanta.

MARTA already does this.

I'm looking at the totality of a situation, not just one component. Such as the shelved Atlanta-to-Lovejoy commuter rail line. Which should've happened loooong ago.

I don't do compartmentalized-thinking. Sorry, I just don't.

Wait, what? GRTA does receive state funding?? And yet MARTA doesn't. Wow, just, wow.

Well it is a state entity. It's just not really being used for its fully-intended purpose.

Still. It's patently unfair to MARTA and its users. But you and I know the underlying reasons for this.

MARTA is a state agency as well. Just not controlled by the state. I still think GRTA is a waste of resources when MARTA, CCT, and GCT could run the express buses in their areas. Other counties want buses, join MARTA or form their own county transit agency. It's wasteful government spending to have all the supportive positions at GRTA when it operates in counties with existing transit agencies.

This is why I say it's not being used like it was intended to. It was my understanding that Roy Barnes created GRTA to eventually take the place of all these agencies because all of our different counties/cities don't know how to work together to solve our transit issues.
