Indeed it was, with the idea being instead of say GCT operating express buses to and from Gwinnett, you could have cross-jurisdictional routes such as Gwinnett-Perimeter-Cumberland which crosses three jurisdictions. Or a Duluth-Roswell-Marietta route.

Well, I found this interesting editorial from a Savannah paper regarding transit funding, MARTA, "anti-Atlanta attitudes", and who gets the $100 million.

Interesting read... it seems as if Atlanta feels greatly neglected by the state legislature, where the rest of state feels as if Atlanta swallows up whatever the state has to offer.

All that tells me is that no one really gets any help.... and that instead of fighting over scraps, the state needs a comprehensive trasportation plan with a dedicated, permenant source.

MARTA and GRTA can handle the Atlanta region, if given the ability to negotiate with the Feds over funds and GDOT can help out all the other agencies.

Attitudes such as the one in that editorial are why we can't have nice things.

I think the editorial has a good point. The bond is issued by the state - not Atlanta.

Agreed.

That's a stupidly written editorial.

Same ol' "us versus them" hillbilly bullcrap I've come to expect from Georgia media and politics in general. Then they are trying to throw in the classic "urban vs surburban vs exurban" nonsense for good measure.

The fight in Metro Atlanta for decent transportation options is a different fight from in Metro Savannah.

And besides that, didn't the Savannah region approve their own TSPLOST package back in 2012? Our region didn't. That's the issue.

Why even conflate the two situations?

AcidSnake Savannah didn't approve their TSPLOST. Augusta, Columbus and Dublin did though.

Ridership? MARTA is the 9th largest transit agency in the US. Any other stupid questions?

Understood.

But I still stand by my opinion that the needs of Metro Atlanta are different from the needs of other metropolitan areas in Georgia.

How does money taxed and raised in Atlanta for transit relate to money taxed and raised in Savannah for transit?

(Not directed at you Airforceguy, just ranting & raving aimlessly in general)
