I think low-rise buyers have a different set of priorities than those that would by at the 14th Street development.

Long, abandoned hotel at Peachtree and 85 could become SCAD dorms.

According to a source, the Savannah College of Art and Design — whose Atlanta campus sits across the street — could potentially be eyeing the building for new dormitory space.

While work in May on the building turned out to be no more than a cell tower replacement, our tipster indicates the school has gone so far as to engage design services for the building.

Another surface lot is being redeveloped.

Architectural firm Cooper Carry filed a handful of building permits with City of Atlanta late last week for new construction of a dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott – a "European inspired design hotel" – and Moxy Hotel – a boutique hotel with "soul and style" – in Midtown.

The city filings come nearly one year to the day Noble Investment Group presented plans for the nearly 300-room hotel, at 53 14th Street to Midtown's Development Review Committee.

New buildings on the Midtown skyline in the last ten years (since 2006). Especially impresive when you consider that the housing collapes was in the middle of that period too.
