That's not even close to a comparison. A more apt comparison would be "We know you like doing all those things a smartphone can do, but because of the possible bad things it could do, we are going to make the iPhone have only Apple's apps, like the original iPhone, and you will no longer be able to download your own apps. That way, it will be more safe and secure. And as for your TV, you will no longer be able to choose what you watch when you want to. You can only change the channel at predetermined breaks."
I am not saying everyone has to or will use them just most. Smartphones are the same way. I know some that prefer their flip phone. Heck some don't even have a cell phone at all.

You've obviously never driven on old logging roads in western Ontario. We used to do that twice a year when we went on fishing trips up there. 40 miles from the nearest anything.

Nope. I never have.

Not sure what me driving on certain roads has to do with autonomous vehicle adoption.

You seem to like playing semantic games. You said:

"Not really, I just think autonomous vehicles will work just as well (if not better) on rural / exurban roads."

I disagree based on my own experience, which you seem to lack.

Does that clarify?

Nope. Few trips are done on those roads "40 miles from the nearest anything". Not really an issue that will stop autonomous car adoption. Just like those area lacking cell coverage will not prevent smartphone adoption.

Most trips through rural areas are done on highways which are easier for autonomous cars than city streets are.
