Well I'm glad.

But you are saying he is "taking shots." That's his "MO." And he is doing it to feel "better about the OP's life." Basically you are saying the OP is a miserable person who just likes to take shots and has nothing of value to say. That's an insult whether you said it directly or not.

And you were really insulting of everyone who didn't agree with your point of view on the accident thread. That doesn't need to be pointed out.

Last Friday I stopped at the Chick-fil-A on Piedmont & Sidney Marcus. I exited at the green light on Sidney Marcus, turning right onto Piedmont because I thought it would be easier than trying to exit with no light.

I sat there not moving for two whole light cycles because the lights on Piedmont are timed so poorly that cars are stacked on the road, and then when people using the left turn arrow from the other side of Sidney Marcus turn onto Piedmont, they can't move, so they block the intersection entirely and by the time they can move, the light has turned red, so you can never turn out. (I hope I described that ok).

The only reason I ever got out of there is because I wedged my way in when traffic was stopped. Didn't want to do it, but nobody was making room and I couldn't be there forever.

It was 3pm.

I have seen Gwinnett, Rockdale, etc. tags on Arkwright, Hosea Williams, Berne, or other streets that are not non-local, commuter routes. They are the ones who hesitate and are not sure where they are going.

I think the speed limits are too low on residential streets that are through streets and too high in school zones. Some school zones have 40 mph speed limits. I haven't seen any less than 25. Schools should be 20 and through streets should be 30. If you have it too low without a special reason, it gets ignored. And having a lower school speed limit grabs your attention to be more alert.
Well, we've clocked them and we've also had the police run radar out there.

Some of the offenders are locals but they need to slow down, too. 35 mph (or faster) is way too fast for an intown street.

This problem happens everywhere.

I live on a neighborhood street that is for all intents and purposes quiet. But that doesn't mean we don't get speeders. Sure, the usual teenagers who just got their drivers licenses are occasional culprits, but I've seen UPS trucks blazing down the road ultra fast. I guess they're under a lot of pressure to get those deliveries done.

But the most surprising thing I've ever seen barreling down my street: a school bus. For real. I hope it was empty.

That's why I'm glad that the developers of my neighborhood had the foresight to include sidewalks.

It's genuine. I hope it does make him feel better about his life and maybe then he'll stop this behavior. Again, not an insult. I think you are reading WAY too far into my comments.

Yep, school buses are bad about that.

35 is fine for arterials, not for predominately residential streets. I do agree few streets in the city should be 40 or 45 (except for roads designed to be expressways like Peachtree Industrial). Those are relics from when they were country roads where traffic and residences were sparse.

No roads in the city should be 40 or 45. If there is ped activity along the corridor, those speeds are too high. I am shocked Austell Rd and other Cobb County arterials are 45 mph.

One would think that with all this new technology around that traffic lights would be able to sense congestion (or traffic studies could at least figure out peak hours, volume, etc.) and lights would be programmed to operate accordingly. Can you imagine the congestion that would alleviate?

It's so tiresome to sit at a light forever, or where lights aren't synced and you get the inevitable traffic backup that waits for...nothing? This seems to be an easy, low-budget fix. No need for widening lanes or even throwing more money at transit. I support transit, but let's start with the low-hanging fruit.

City mayors and GDOT could easily partner up on this one, in my opinion.
