I'm hearing reports that the House might not have enough votes to override Deal, should he choose to veto the bill.

Though, right now, whether or not Deal vetoes the bill is anyone's guess as the only statement that the governor's office has made is that he will review the bill and make a decision on whether or not he will veto it next month.

Until then, look for there to be an extreme (if not exceptional) amount of pressure from the state's business community (particularly from the Metro Atlanta business community) for Deal to veto the bill.

Also look for there to be an equally extreme amount of pressure from the state's social and religious conservatives to sign the bill into law.

The question now obviously becomes if Governor Deal will sign the bill into law or will he veto it?

Because Georgia lawmakers did not use a parliamentary procedure to immediately send the bill to his desk, he'll have until May 3rd to decide whether he is going to sign the bill into law or whether he is going to veto it.

Mayor Reed grappling with fallout from religious freedom bill

Quote:
“I have probably an hour and a half worth of calls to make to convention [organizers] considering pulling out the city,” Reed said Thursday morning. “I’ve got in-person visits with four CEOs in the tech space between now and [next] Wednesday.”

I'd still like to know if anyone has come up with a case of a Georgia preacher ever being forced to marry a gay couple (or anyone else) against his will.

This is a "solution" in search of a non-existent problem and the only repercussions are negative.

If this does pass, and the TV and film industry does indeed back out of Georgia, there is going to be some hell to pay, and I might just be leading the charge. You mess with my career, and take my six-figure income from me and my family just so that you can tell gay people they're icky, I'm coming after you.

Older people wonder why younger people do not vote Republican. This is why. Put aside economics, taxes, etc. Young people are not going to vote for the party that champions pointless crap like this.

Does rural Georgia even do anything positive for the state anymore or do they just export their ****ty politicians to Atlanta to screw it over?
