Some of the minority owned establishments need to get their **** together though. Trust me. They make the money. If they thought they could get away with saying they are more so a restaurant and pay the cheaper licensing they were wrong. When cover is $20, Cut is $40, VIP is $60 and people are buying sections for $800-$1200....where's the money to pay the operational costs?!?!?.... They are flexing on Social Media and not even researching the cost to operate. Medusa, Josephine's and Xcess all owned by same the same guy.... I think 3am is suitable. Anybody that says close earlier is just not being realistic.

If Brookhaven bars are forced to close at 2 am the patrons will probably just gravitate somewhere else, and then another community will have to deal with the same issues. Why should Brookhaven be able to pass the buck?

Because they have been granted to power to do so by the state and the citizens of Brookhaven. And because it will no longer be its problem; it will be someone else's.

I hear you, Icon. Unfortunately that seems to have become the politically expedient solution for all kinds of problems these days -- just kick the can down the road and let the next person deal with it.

That town can shut down at 2am as well. Problem solved?

I for one am happy to pay my high taxes so that the money can be used in cases of triple shootings. Is there a place I can donate $ for these poor establishments? They are getting a raw deal. Maybe we all can just pay higher taxes so that these places can exist? Or maybe our tax dollars can go to a dedicated officer for these establishments? Whatever we can do to help these guys stay open past 2am. Surely there is a solution. We need more triple shootings / homicides in Brookhaven to balance out the place.

Looks like this war on partying in Brookhaven will never end.

Brookhaven nightclubs may lose liquor licenses over tax dispute

That being said, it does seem like a lot of trouble happens at these late night clubs. The close friend of NBA superstar Kevin Durant was gunned down just up the road in Chamblee a few weeks ago. And then a young father of two was gunned down outside a late night club in Buckhead back in February. If I'm not mistaken there have been other shootings as well.

And most places around the country have 2am last calls. If people want to drink after 2am, they can go to the convenience store, pick up some beer and drink at home.
