For the first time in Many Moons, a gay entertainment establishment is coming to the city. The owners of the now defunct Jungle dance club are opening Greenhouse in the old Midtown Tavern Space in the 500 block of Piedmont. Details here:

The more I think about it, the more it seems like this is a near-perfect destiny for what has been a long neglected and problematic part of the city. It would also address the common complaint that the city no longer has a cohesive gay entertainment district.

NYC has East Village and Chelsea
LA has West Hollywood and Silverlake
Dallas has Oak Lawn
Houston has Montrose
Chicago has N. Halsted

Will Atlanta soon have Lower Piedmont?

Someone on another website said they were moving to Jenny's Alley at Underground Atlanta but I guess that was a lie

That may have been in play for a while, but this where they're landing. I think the owners had been shopping around ever since Jungle's closing.

They should have also bought the brown building next to it

I like this.

I think the Allen-McGill neighborhood would be a great location for a new epicenter of Gay Atlanta Nightlife.

It's so funny...I just saw the other day that that area is considered Midtown. I for some reason always thought of it as neither midtown, nor downtown but in-between the two.

That would be so cool. I used to walk north on Spring Street from North Avenue and thought to myself...this is Atlanta? I was like...what a total waste. This area (Spring St up to maybe 10th street) could be so much more developed. I would walk past little buildings that looked dead and think to myself...why is no one opening up shop here. It's right in between GA Tech and Midtown Midtown and no one is taking advantage of it.

It would be cool if they had a Lower Piedmont. A lot of potential and it's just sitting there.
