Hi!
Read your question about where to go from Atlanta. I live there too, in the Emory University neighborhood. Most of the suggestions I would offer have already been made: Birmingham, Chattanooga, Highlands, Savannah, did anyone mention Charleston?

I just recently visited this charming town and interesting museum:
The Scottish Tartans Museum
86 East Main St
Franklin, NC 28734
(828)524-7472
and highly recommend the day trip.

As for the oceans, I have been to Panama city and don't appreciate the long row of highrises along the beaches too much. We have a condo at Amelia Island Plantation which we visit for 3 days weekends and needless to say, it is beautiful - and on the rental market!
Check it out: Amelia Island Rentals | 1166 Beachwalk Rd
Happy travels!

There is an unbelievable amount of outdoors stuff to do in North Georgia. Dahlonega and Helen are two unique North Georgia towns. I would recommend checking out DayZipping (Great day trips from Atlanta | DayZipping) for lots of good options.

Default 3 craft beverage escapes within 5 hours of Atlanta

Quote:
Explore a different kind of craft beverage scene on a weekend road trip.

Just over 4 hours from Atlanta is Cabarrus County, North Carolina. The place known for motorsports also has a whiskey distillery housed in a former prison. There’s also Greenville County, South Carolina’s winery overlooking the skyline. Finally, Nashville, Tennessee is home to a brewery with live music.

Here are three craft beverage spots to check out on a weekend trip. Each has a taste for you no matter the drink you’re craving...
A wine, beer and whiskey escape is just 5 hours from Atlanta (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
