That sign is like 12' long, saw it at the DPW's sign shop.

I would say re-dedicate it for Tallulah Bankhead.

MARTA is working to rename five of its train stations to keep up with the city’s changing landscape and to better reflect the neighborhoods where they sit. But some residents are worried about how much input they’ll have in the process...
https://www.ajc.com/news/local/marta...hgjZxYljbEafK/

The five stations being renamed are:

  • Bankhead
  • Ashby
  • Civic Center
  • Dome/GWCC/Philips/CNN
  • Lakewood/Fort McPherson

I'll be very interested to hear some of the suggestions.

1. Bankhead - Now that we know it's named after a Confederate officer, that will go away pronto.
2. Ashby Village - "Where?", asks the average MARTA rider.
3. Canebrake - See #2
4. Thrasherville - Also see #2
5. Fort McPherson - Who will know what Fort McPherson was in 30 years?

1. Bankhead is classic. It bettah not go away. I thought it was named for the Federal Highway dude? Was he a Confederate Officer??? If a problem, make it about/connect it with Tallulah.

2. A better branding for the AUC area.

3. Search my past posts.

4. See #3.

5. Let it stand as a classic, historical name for the area. Though, for this one, a local neighborhood would totally suffice and be OK with me.
