I just did the drive from Snellville to Mall of Georgia today and it was about 40-45 minutes so I can imagine the bottom 3 during rush hour would be a bit more as well.

Either way, I like the area but the SR 124 definitely needs to be expanded from US 78 to Sugarloaf Parkway.

Mall of GA ain't close to Gwinnett Place.

By Gwinnett Place/Sugarloaf, it means the area near Gwinnett Place Mall, Sugarloaf Country Club, and Sugarloaf Mills.

Isn't it already 4 lanes divided along that stretch?

It is but between US 78 and Sugarloaf (more so around Ronald Reagan), it can be solid gridlock in the mornings and evenings with all the lights and traffic volume.

If I remember correctly, GDOT has plans to expand SR 124 to 6 lane in the future.

How are they going to do it? There's virtually no room. I agree it should have been done before they heavily commercialized that area given all the intercommuting traffic it carries but honestly even at 3 lanes that area will still be a pain - what is really needed is a way to go around that area entirely. Anytime you have a primary road feeded directly into a commercial district, you're going to have traffic regardless of how well you design or overdesign, especially with all the traffic signals on that stretch.

Did they ever finish the Continuous Flow Interchange between U.S. 78 and GA-124?

Brief flashback - How quickly did yall forget about the Reversible Lanes on U.S. 78 (Stone Mountain Highway) between GA-124 and West Parkplace? - Was so happy to see them get rid of that.

I found the article.

CFI is about 80-90% complete. The intersection definitely needs more lighting. I"m not sure, if it is part of the plans or not to add lighting but it is very dark at night. A couple Saturday's ago when we went out for dinner, we saw a couple drivers use the wrong lanes after turning off NB 124 to EB US 78.

I didn't but I still feel that the lanes are still too narrow on 78 due to that redesign.

Yes, I live in Midtown but I love Alpharetta. Like you said, pretty much anything along 400.

Alpharetta 1970's. Lived it. Serene, much cleaner air, next to none of the congestion/concrete morass of today. Another place entirely from the ostentatious, vapid consumer culture and eviscerated environment that is Alpharetta today.
Growth was inevitable and Alpharetta far from only town in region defiled to the hilt. Many old timers (and/or family who were willed) their Alpharetta pasture land subsequent big houses, expensive vehicles and cushy retirements - trust you moved away from development you helped facilitate.
The "growth is way forward" spiel from current crop of predatory local political folks makes some who have lived long enough to see end result despair about what really matters being steamrolled piece by piece again and again.
Being part of the problem because there's no stopping (sic) progress, does not make it any more tolerable just because it's sold in soothing southern charm.
God help this area.

Agree 100% with what you said. I ended up in South Forsyth in Cumming, great area everything is very convenient, & having a lot of the people in the $100k & up demographic really brings a lot of shopping & businesses.

I would have been in Alpharetta but could get another a lot more house 7 miles north.

When I was looking to buy property, I searched around Alpharetta aggressively. But the home prices in that area made me think "what the....?"
