The reason is it has a combination of things which make up a upper middle class suburb. The suburb has had the fortune of the tech industry setting up shop along 285/400 providing ample good paying jobs. This has resulted in the following below.

1.) Good schools
2.) Low Crime
3.) Tree filled streets & residents with larger homes.
4.) Demographics attract upscale shopping & dining
5.) Access to 400 allows easy access to Atlanta & 285.

Default Atlanta’s Best Suburb?

I’m not so sure if we’ve ever discussed this before, but I’m curious. What is Atlanta’s best suburb and why? I tried to stick with the largest and most all around suburbs, but it’s obviously way more than listed. If you chose other, please state which one and why.

I'm choosing East Cobb (I'm biased), which is technically part of Marietta address, but for several well defined reasons, is distinctly different.

Reasons:

Great schools
Still great pockets of affordability
Proximity to major job centers (midtown, alpharetta, roswell, cumberland, perimeter, etc.)
Proximity to cute downtowns (alpharetta, woodstock, marietta, roswell)
Fun stores (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Target, etc. (all in one intersection even!))
Safety
Not as constantly busy as some other suburbs can be

Not sure if Decatur is still really considered a suburb anymore but I chose it due to:

Close to CoA
MARTA access
Great schools
Great little downtown

Yes, we have discussed it.

We've discussed it ad nauseam.

I'll save you the frustration: There is no answer. Everyone has a different opinion.

Um, why aren't East Cobb or South Forsyth in the poll???

They should be direct poll options.

Other key, high-quality suburban areas/towns that are missing...and that should be direct poll options:

Parkview-Brookwood (South Lilburn, East Lilburn, North Snellville)

Union Grove-Ola (East/Northeast McDonough)

Hamilton Mill/Mill Creek Area

Hickory Flat

Sharpsburg/East Coweta

Senoia

West Cobb

Here - Someone has compiled a list - I'm sure we may not all agree with their assessment - but like ATLTJL said we will end up there after 147 pages of random posts in this thread anyway

So...
Ready - Set - Pick your poison.....

There are a lot more things to explore - I just picked the things that had to do with "suburb".

Note: The hyperlinks look the same (weird) but they take you to different places !!

Exactly why I don’t understand why you’re annoyed by this thread. I personally think it’s Decatur. Urban, good transit, good schools, nice downtown, convenient to the core, and it’s very walkable.
