I finally got a call back from Kia this week. I filled out the application online early last year. I have already done the interview phase and 40 hr training. All I have left to do is my drug screen, physical, and background. Can't wait to start !!!!! Anybody out there that is in the same phase, hit me up...

Do you know exactly where the Kia plant is being built? What streets?
I am not going to compete with you for a job, . . . I am just curious.
thanks

Kia Motors Manufacturing of Georgia‎
1302 Orchard Hill Rd, Lagrange, GA

Hopefully you realize that's around 75 miles south of Atlanta on 85.

It could be closer to 90 miles one way depending on where you live. the Orchard Hill is now defunct every thing is at the plant another 10 miles south of La Grange, you can't miss it as they have their own exit.

Don't know yet i'm assuming since i've done everything with the 40 hr training drug test and background i'll be fine. Think it takes about 3 weeks to a month to get a start date due to so many people. They just hired 800 people and 300 more in two weeks. They're all going to Korea for training hoping to be in that number. Wish me luck...

I did my 40 hr training in December. We had classroom and hands on. We pretty much did everything from putting brake lights in the car, waxn a simulation, naming tools, putting rotors on, master cylinders, spot checking colors and everything in between. You had to do all this while being timed and being watched by several people which added to the pressure. I made it through that part. Some people didn't even get a call back. I've already recieved a preliminary job offer contingent upon my physical. I passed everything. Just waiting on a start date.

For some reason im thinking this is going to be one of those "all that glitters ain't gold" type of things. My parents got in and from what I hear very few people that started out chose to stay. Im from Lagrange and know quite a few folks that started and chose not to stay... not sure what the reasoning may have been though. Both of them have been there since the beginning but my mom is considering going to one of the supply plants.

Can you tell me how the working conditions are there and if the koreans boss u? Just going on word of mouth...

I interview with Kia Motors on July 23 and I must agree with "BROWNHORNET" thats is exactly what kind of job it will be...also "SCENEIT" you heard correctly about KIA being harsh if you late, one guy called and stated he was stuck in traffic due too and car wreck that had happen on the interstate and he was told if he couldn't make the assigned appoinment that he wouldn't be interview...also during the interview KIA states that the 40hrs of training doesn't guarantee you a job with KIA, its just the next phase in the hiring process. I live in Alabama and have a descent paying Job and for the starting pay I don't think the pay is worth the relocating, but I must say I was honored to have been selected for an interview...

that 40 hr of training is a waste of time, do you eve get paid for training? if no, that's basically almost free labor for a week

besides, after that 40 hr of training, do you still make 7.25 or something per hour? some other jobs can offer the same with no or less training
