Yay..but waiting till 2012 until a vote...why the long wait?

However as a hopeful potential future resident (I'm from D.C. and saving up money to move) you guys arent the only ones struggling with funding for public transportation. After our big Train crash, increase in ridership due to the recession/people moving in, and numerous safety issues (including a train operator sleeping and another talking on the phone while driving) we're just trying to get money to make our rails safe and dependable again without someone getting hurt or dying ***go figure**

Finally some good news in Georgia politics, and especially with transportation, the one department in the state that needs some serious work.

Eh...I guess I will take this law for what it's worth.

Too bad it doesn't make all of the metro counties come in on the vote, but I guess we will have to wait until they get "diverse" enough to want to vote for good transit plans.

It is about. Friggin'. Time.

I am interested in seeing a map of the 12 districts, once one becomes available. I hope they are not too badly gerrymandered.

I think we'll have to wait for more details on the bill before knowing if anything will actually change. The way the governor's proposal was set up, the outlying counties in the Atlanta region would have had more votes than the 5 largest counties in the "round-table" to determine the project list. If this bill is similar, it could wind up just being more road funding. Thats not to say that we don't need additional road funding but I do think we need a more balanced approach to future growth.

Its the twelve regional planning districts that are already established for the state.
