Default Lake Travis and Austin Fireworks Suggestions

The 4th of July is coming up, and I wanted to know if anyone knows any great places to watch fireworks. I know Carlos' N Charlie's does a great fireworks show, but Im not too sure about Lake Austin. I'd like some input.
Thanks

Georgetown (I know, not Austin) does a really good show with much less crowd. The San Gabriel park is a really nice park, too, so you can go out there earlier in the day and then get a good seat.

My family and friends like to go buy our own arsenal and do our own outside of city limits. Have you seen the fireworks stands here yet?

I have seen Carlos and Charlies and they were good. But it is PACKED there.

Zilker sucked, imo
They do one out at Lakeway that is good. You can either go to Lakeway park, or go over to Jonny Finns to watch.

I haven't been to georgetown, but I heard it's a good one also.

Btw, a FYI - it is illegal to possess fireworks in the city limits (not just shoot them off). A few years ago they actually set up squad cars right inside the city limits next to the fireworks stands, then watched people buy fireworks, put them in their car, and head into town...the cops then pulled them over and gave them a ticket (and, of course, took their fireworks). The owners of the stands had a FIT and the police stopped (something about probably cause, etc, etc., or having to do that to ALL the stands, not sure).

Last year we watched the fireworks in Zilker Park from the Barton Creek mall parking lot. There were probably a couple hundred people there at least. You get a great view of downtown and you don't have to fight any traffic or walk any distance. Just bring a couple of chairs and set them up in the parking lot.

We watched from Barton Creek too! It was really pretty cool. People were sitting in the backs of pickups and on the hoods of their cars, etc.
