For sports...football, baseball (the big ones in high school)...I have twin boys that are very athletic, they will only be going into 5th grade, but I know that sports are their thing...especially in the future!

I had to chuckle when I read "they will only be going into 5th grade" because believe me, by the time most boys here in Texas are in 5th grade they have been playing organized sports for about 6-8 years and lot have had personal training in their preferred sports. I live in the Eanes district and we have many former college and pro sports dads that live in the area and my 5th grader has been on several baseball and Pop Warner teams with their sons. So as you can imagine, sports in the Westlake area are taken very seriously and the competition is fierce. I have heard the same about Lake Trav is (having former college and pro dads living in the area).

You mentioned that your boys are athlectic so I am assuming they have been playing sports for a while and if you are moving from somewhere in Texas I am sure you are used to how competitive it is here, but if you are moving from somewhere outside the state just be prepared for how insane it can be (especially in Westlake and in Lake Travis). I mean, the middle schools here in Eanes have weight rooms for goodness sakes. Maybe other middle schools in Austin and surrounding areas do also, but I know when I was in middle school in Houston we sure did not have one!

Not sure where you're from, but here in Texas the only "big one" is Football. (all sports are very much supported by schools & parents.....but football is the "big one").

& I very much agree with austinaggie. Kids in ALL sports have competed in several seasons of play by 5th grade. My kid (a 6th grader) plays year round in his chosen sport.

Maybe someone from Bowie can chime in on their baseball program....I know their football program has improved & competed well with Westlake the past couple of years (but hasn't delivered the playoff runs like WL & LT).

For what it's worth, i think the HS that will push it's way into the LT & Westlake conversation 3-5 years from now will be Vandegrift. Beautiful school and great facilities.
