The only place I know of in RR (other than the standard IHOP, Cracker Barrel type places) is a small place on Gattis School Road called Java Cafe. I don't know why it's called "Java" because it doesn't feature amazing coffee or anything - but the breakfasts are GREAT. Sunday's feature is Eggs Benedict, which people come specifically just for that.

If you want to venture over to the Lake Line mall/183 area (totally not in the area you are asking about) definitely go to Kerby Lane Cafe - which is amazing.

I think the breakfast niche is one that is really missing strong players in Austin. In San Francisco we used to eat at a place called Ella's which we have now craved every day since leaving 6 years ago. It seems to me that Austin is mainly a breakfast taco town and it's hard for a really good egg joint to supplant Austinites' love for the b-taco. We sort of got the vibe when we moved here that people are just too active and busy being outside to waste time on a sitdown breakfast!

Slightly off topic as its not North, but the Magnolia Cafe on S Congress does an awesome breakfast.

I must confess that I'm from London so, I guess, I'm not really qualified to discuss breakfast ("do you want grease with your grease luv?"), but I've spent much time in the Bay Area & have breakfasted at the Hidden City in Point Richmond which is the best breakfast that I've ever had.

Anyways, the point being that the Magnolia is soooo good! And cheap. I think that they have a place up North, near Deep Eddy or somewhere.

you know I tried to find that place but got lost. Even my GPS could not help. I think I will just stick to the north in my neighborhood. Thank you for your input

Magnolia Cafe in central Austin is on Lake Austin Blvd, just off Mopac to the west. Across LAB from the Deep Eddy pool. It's a nice, cozy place.

I've always liked Waterloo Ice House on Burnet for breakfast - Waterloo Ice House - Austin, TX, 78757 - Citysearch
bkfst menu - http://www.diningoutwithrobbalon.com/review/waterloo/breakfast.pdf (broken link)

A little more NE, there is the Original Pancake House on Parmer (chain from Oregon)... maybe similar to your PNW favorite:

Snuffy's in Pacifica is awesome also. Not far from SF.

I liked Mom's in RR, off N. Mays but I heard it changed hands but haven't actually been there since. Give it a shot.

I have been to Java's on Metric and I agree, they do have a good breakfast.

The Water Tank on Mc Neil has great B-Fast for cheap.
