If we get Puritans out of the Governor's office then we might casinos, which are a no brainer. It could literally change the landscape for rural Texas dust towns.

I go to WinStar in Oklahoma about once a month when I have freeplay money, free rooms, and free food offers. It is a 265 mile drive or around 4.5 hours for us. I am told there are buses that pick up in San Antonio and north and south Austin on certain days for around $10. WinStar is the 3rd largest casino in the world with over 6000 slots and they are adding more square footage and machines as I type.

Eagle Pass down on the border is on my list to try, I have read it has become very much larger and is a bit closer.

Coushatta is nice but I didn't like the selection of games or more exact I didn't like the fact I couldn't bet low on most of the games I wanted to play.

I sure as hell hope not. Casinos erode the quality of life in a community.. they are a direct cause of more alcoholism, more drunk driving, more gambling addiction, debt & money problems, drugs, crime, prostitution, violence, crime, just trashy culture in general. Just look how casinos destroyed Atlantic City, for one.. what a tragedy. Please keep ONE area of the U.S. casino-free!! There's enough other places that have casinos (unfortunately) where you can go and throw your money away..

They already have gambling in Texas and I have a lot more wins at a Casino. Working in a place that sold scratch offs and lottery I saw people spend more in 10 minutes than I spend in 2 days at a Casino.

I understand some people are against gambling...from what I read over half the people polled were for Casinos in Texas. There is so much money leaving Texas that could be staying here.

Have you ever noticed you have to be 21 at the casinos but only 18 to play the Texas Lottery. I enjoy Winstar.

Gambling is one of those borderline activities that I think clearly falls within the realm of personal responsibility. We are not children and should be allowed to make our own choices.

Actually the vast majority of humans have demonstrated that they are not capable of behaving like adults, taking responsibility and making good decisions. If that weren't the case then we wouldn't have littering, people throwing cigarette butts out the window of their cars, alcoholism or drug addiction, we wouldn't need annual safety inspections for our vehicles or speed limits and the Comal River would not be full of beer cans.

Gambling should remain illegal because there are too many people who are gullible and easily taken advantage of. Gambling causes more harm to society then any benefit we would have from increased tax revenues.
