Those programs at best are a very expensive bandaid on a gaping axe wound. They're great for a handful of families (lottery winners), makes everyone feel good (we did something!!!) and do nothing to address the real problem.

How is the Dallas Real Estate market relevant to what is happening in Austin? Explain yourself, you have failed to do so thus far.

There are any number of calamities that could take place which will affect all markets to some degree. But even in that event, Austin is likely to do better then other places. During the last recession the Austin real estate market and economy was better off then most of the rest of the US. Austin remains one of the most promising places to invest in real estate.

In regard to the U.S. defaulting on its debt and massive spending cuts, those scenarios are very unlikely because those in power and their owners would stand to loose enormously if they allowed that to happen. If they are so insane that they would allow that to happen, then we, society, deserves whatever it gets.

The US cannot default on our debt because we can simply inflate our way out of it.

I absolutely hope no taxpayer funded low income housing initiatives pass. There is plenty of inexpensive housing if you are willing to move further away from downtown.

Well, your city council saw fit to reserve $10 million out of their unexpected $14 million surplus for "affordable housing".
