Try a B&N in the local section. I have one of those small pocket size guides to both plants, reptiles and birds and check them off when I see them. It's called the Peterson Guide to XXXXX and the price on the book is $5.95 but I got them when I first moved to Texas back in 1996 so who knows if they still publish them and/or the current price.

Some googling brought me here: Illustrated Guides

And two that seem promising are this one:
Trees, Shrubs, and Vines of the Texas Hill Country: A Field Guide, Second Edition (Louise Lindsey Merrick Natural Environment Series): Jan Wrede: 9781603441889: Amazon.com: Books
(Which G Grasshopper already noted above)
and
Lone Star Field Guide to Wildflowers, Trees, and Shrubs of Texas (Lone Star Field Guides): Delena Tull, George Oxford Miller: 9781589070073: Amazon.com: Books

They're both field guide size - 6"x9" or less.

OP - don't know if you saw this, but this is a link I posted that has a listing of nurseries and addresses for them where they have those Grow Green guides.

My apologies, I did not realize the one Grasshopper noted was a field guide. Thank you. Primarily I was not asking for someone to search for me but I was checking to see if someone already had one. To me, that would prevent a waste of time.
