Looking for a place to spent two or three nights. Been anywhere romantic?
Fredricksburg is out because of numerous visits already.

South Padre Island, or you could stretch the definition of one day driving and go to Destin/Panama City - but that really is one full day of driving! I usually leave at 3-4am and get there around 2-3 PM.

Depends on what you like to do, but Galveston can work, as well.

La Cantera (outside San Antonio)?

One of the high end (or boutique) hotels on the SA Riverwalk?

Also, if on a weekend, you might get a "deal" (like a $300 room for $100 etc. on priceline) at a ritzy hotel in downtown Houston or Dallas. For a 3 day honeymoon, you'd be needing at most a couple of nice meals out & a couple of fun/unique activities outside the hotel.....i'm guessing a swanky room in a fab hotel with excellent room service would be as important as the actual "destination".

Galveston might work too. Have fun.

If money is no object, what is that Ranch outside of Big Bend? I've heard it's incredible.

How long do you consider a "one day drive"? If you can, especially this time of year, a 9 hour drive to Ruidoso or Cloudcroft in NM would get you into a different climate and a nice romantic mountain spot.

Otherwise, maybe the Gage hotel in Marathon (if you are ok with desolate, desert towns) or the Hotel Galvez in Galveston if you want something in a more populated area with lots of things to do.

Here's a couple of offbeat suggestions:

For funky/historic, Chicken Farm Art Center in San Angelo. For nature, Indian Lodge at Davis Mountain SP. Both places have interesting things to do during the day in the area.

I would choose SPI or live it up in Dallas or Houston with high-end hotel and fine dining.

Go to the Daytripper website and see if any of those places appeal to you.
