I'm not a hipster but someone fill me in. Why does everyone hate them so much?

I dont think you pay very much attention. Texas is good at spewing this nonsence while the government clearly sets the stage. Try and be an individual in Texas and watch the police circle.

Funny, I've never had a problem with that (except for that pesky teargas situation at the Capitol during the demonstration - but that WAS the 60's and it wasn't the police but the National Guard and it was more or less expected). What do you mean by "being an individual" and does it involve actual lawbreaking?

I have done and still do plenty of illegal things the police don’t know about. To hell with them. They are not about the people, but about the government.
It is when people play the "live and let live" card that irritates me Horselady. Texas is far from that, but people readily state this. For example, try and assemble today and see where that gets you? I should not have to telegraph my frustrations regarding the governments decisions by requesting to formally assembly by filling out some paperwork etc. . The public pays the bills and should be able assemble if needed. Without having the police interfere. Get it. I know that some believe that this “structure” is good.

Well, I, for one, have experienced Texas over the past 64 years as mostly a live and let live state, as long as you return the favor. This means, for example, not forcing your political opinions on your neighbors unless asked. It's more a personal, in between people sort of thing. Someone who is all about making sure everyone knows their beliefs, be they political or religious, and shares them, isn't someone who believes in live and let live or who practices it (or even has a clue what it means).

As for rules and regulations, are you an advocate of total anarchy, meaning you can gather wherever you want in whatever numbers you want without notifying anybody, stopping traffic (because you didn't get the appropriate "paperwork" that allowed appropriate accommodation - detours, etc. - to be set up) and causing disruption to the lives of your fellow citizens (making it more than clear that YOU don't believe in "live and let live" except as it applies to you and your right to NOT do so)? Are you an advocate of no speed limits, stop signs, etc., because that infringes on your personal freedom to do whatever the heck you want, to hell with the consequences to others? If so (and I'm not saying you are, just responding your post above), then you really don't get the "and let live" part of live and let live. There's a responsibility (yes, I know, shocking) to your fellow man ("and let live") that goes along with that approach to the world - it's not just all about you.
