Does anyone have Clydesdale horses in the Austin area? I have two older Clydesdale horses that eat only grass pellets that have to be shoaked because they can't eat hay. If I moved to Texas would I have a problem finding pellets and how much would a fifty pound bag cost? If you know of someone i could contact or post here for information it would be of great help.

I haven't seen Clydesdales, but I have seen other large working breeds. You won't have a problem finding different types of feed for horses since it is Texas after all. It's been a while since I've owned a horse, so I can't be much help on how much feed costs right now. I know of a feed store in Taylor and one in Granger, but not of any in Austin, but I'm sure someone else does.

There's Gaddy's in Pflugerville but I don't know if they have grass pellets.

Oh by the way, here in Southern California mountains a bale of hay is $15.00 a bale. A 50 lb bag of senior feed or pellets is $15.75 ouch! My two Clydesdales eat 25 lbs each twice a day. They are big fellas....They are gentle giants for sure.....Now all I have to do is find the right ranch in the country outside of Austin area for them and us.....Have A Great Day!

Wimberley Feed & Grain Dealers

Try this link... it may help. My FIL is a large animal vet and lives in San Marcos so I knew there were a few there or in the area.

Come on down to Marble Falls! We love horsin around here! On our little cul de sac here the horses outnumber the people and we are in city limits! Burnet County has more arenas both public and private than you can shake a stick at. And we have 3 feed stores here in town, partial to the one by the Bluebonnet, great boots, purses, and jewelry there too!

Nice to know that Granny Gardener; I'll be looking up the horsey communities when I get there. I might as well lay down and die if I can't ride.

My previous post got censored for advertising.
Note to moderator...I apologize, but she did mention she was looking I am not a realtor or any such occupation. Just helping someone who asked for it. If this is not appropriate, please direct message me and we can chat about it.

My FIL does have a ranch for sale. Contact me if you would like info.

Check out the feed mills. Burleson Feed Mill sells alfalfa pellets for around $13.00 a cwt.
