4) you can go for longer, though technically you have a time limit. It is unlikely to be a problem since they cant really prove when you moved.

5) He really should find a job before moving.
As others have said, he is an adult, he should be asking these questions himself.
You will likely have to co sign to rent an apartment. I think it is highly unlikely for him to get an apartment without a source of income.

What kind of job would he be looking for?
He is working as a specialist in the semiconductor industry. I really appreciate your time and advice. As silly as it sounds, in Florida the cell provider makes a huge difference on whether you have a working phone! Definitely hoping he has job before relocating but isn’t in a position now to discuss with prospective employers since it could affect his current employment. Again, thank you!

He sure is and did, my oldest son bought his first car at 15 before he could even drive. Assets have nothing to do with age until funds are required to secure the asset which my 20 year old did at 20 with a 3 year work history and a rural home loan. I am sure things are different in different areas but we are in Florida and no trolling going on here.

Still no answer as to why he picked Austin. People are moving here in volume. All looking for work and housing. Both are becoming harder to find. Hopefully he has a good car for driving Uber.

It could have been a foreclosure or a townhome or maybe he got gifts frowm grandparents, insurance etc.. We don't know. So please don't judge. All we have is what the OP has told us. I bought a house at 23. It's hard but not unheard of.

If I were 24 (ha), I would look into the new micro-apartments I see in the local news. I like the idea of less room in the apartment, but more emphasis on common areas. It sounds ideal for someone new to town.

I think Buda or Kyle 78610,78640 or even southpark meadows area (78748) is closer might be an option for lower rental properties and still close to downtown. I would check fb marketplace for rental shares, a lot of local people post there. I have AT&T and its always worked great for me. There are apartments everywhere and run about 900 a month for a 1 bedroom 1 bath but he may be able to find it cheaper.
Vehicle transfers are supposed to be done within 30 days but technically, he can be "visiting" for awhile. One thing I love about here is that the police are reasonable..they are real cops that are looking for real infractions and not just picking on citizens..at least that has been my experience!

78748 is not as cheap as you would think. I’m paying $1260 for a newer 1/1 off onion creek parkway.

You afraid to compete for your job? Maybe he likes Florida weather but would prefer less rain. Why does it matter? You should be happy you live in a desirable place and not one everyone is rushing to leave.

Do you feel all better now?

I bar tended 40 years ago. I'm way too old to put up with that silliness.

The reason I asked is that it seems like a big move to come to a place you know nothing about, with no job, and no place to live. And even worse, Mommie is asking questions for you.

Good luck, have fun, and be thankful you're old enough to start life over again if you fail miserably.

Calm down, mommy. No one's afraid that an entry level employee who has his mother researching his move is going to "take their job." Your boy is moving to a place he's only heard about and swallowed the hype hook line and sinker -- just like thousands of people do each year only to be faced with the realities of a much more difficult job market than they anticipated, outrageous housing costs, and quickly dwindling savings. But please, only chose to believe the Austin hype. PS - he's about ten years too late.
