We have some contractors from work coming into town that I will be picking up at the airport. Normally, when I pick folks up, I park in the garage that is directly across from baggage claim. Like you grab your bags, walk outside, cross the street where all the car rental & offsite parking shuttles are, and you are in the garage.

Does anyone know which garage that is? I went to the ABIA website, but I can't which lot it is. I've parked in that lot dozens of times before to pick people up, but never really paid attention to which lot it was.

The thing is, these guys are coming on the 15th - right smack dab in the thick of SXSW. So I think there is a good chance that garage will be full. I want to be able to check before I leave to pick them up. I would like to meet them at baggage claim, which is why I'd rather not just do the cell phone lot.

Also, if it is full, are there any other lots I could park in for 30 minutes or so and walk to from the terminal / baggage claim?

TIA!

The folks "upgrading" the parking at ABIA must be the same ones who have taken 20 years to complete some of the highways south of town. Lifetime employment!!!

I'd take an extra person(driver), have them drop you outside of baggage claim and circle/cell lot until you call them saying the flight/baggage has arrived. Then they swoop to the end of the pick-up driveway and meet you/your party...easy peasy and Bob's your uncle!

One reason I suggest this is the willy-nilly way the driveways/entrances/exits and traffic flow have changed during this fiasco. Mr Murphy and his law will make sure SOMEthing changes just before you make the trip to the airport.

Well, that's not an option. Any idea what lot it is? I am fully aware that it's going to suck.

Follow @abai_parking on twitter for live updates. You want to just park in the Blue garage.

Your worst case is you park in a long term lot and shuttle out to the car when their bags start rolling out and pick them up curbside.

Red Garage is short term now. $3 an hour. It's the one that let's you get closest to the terminal.

Beware, the route into it changes constantly during the construction.

Yes, it may cost you $3 now just to pass through, but the red garage is what you want. It will not be full.

Last time I was there, Jan 18, 2019 it was a real mess detouring around all the construction. Here is a map. Garage 1 is the closest , park on the lowest level and walk across to the baggage terminal.

That is exactly the information I needed. Thank you so much! I looked all over the ABIA website and could only find color-coded maps where I couldn't tell which lot was which. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Haha funny, all I did was a Google Images search for "austin bergstrom airport parking map", numerous maps popped up.

Figures. All I could find were red lot, blue lot, etc. Could have totally been just a completely "duh" moment on my part though

But thank you, again.
