Elizalde will most likely be leaving AISD and I’m not shedding any tears. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/aust...th-dallas-isd/

Maybe she realized the AISD school board and the central administration is filled with incompetent lunatics.
Then again, she might be one herself, but with a different MO.

She was using AISD as a stepping stone for the position she ultimately wanted in Dallas. She needed the superintendent credential in order to be a viable candidate there. I haven't talked to anyone on the left or the right that is sad she is leaving. She was universally unliked. An interesting theory that I have heard from multiple people in the last few days is that the board likely brought her in knowing she was a short timer to make unpopular cuts and policy changes.

She balanced the budget and then left.

Pretty much. It is a sorry job to have right now and all things considered, she did what had to be done regardless of how popular it was. I swear there are people who thought she needed to fix 'Robin Hood' and reduce the recapture amount. Or miraculously keep everyone employed despite lack of funds. People point to how much the AISD top admin people are making, but that is hardly a dent compared to the budget shortfalls.

If she truly reduced the central administration bureaucracy by several hundred positions, then she was on the right track….. for starters.
Plenty of superfluous programs could be done away with or cut back too.
