Anyone has recommendations for banks with safe deposit box available in North Austin/Pflugerville/Round Rock locations? I am having a hard time finding one.

I would never store anything in a banks safe deposit box.
They aren't "safe" at all:
Cash that is stored in safe deposit boxes is not insured by the FDIC. Coins, jewelry or other valuables should be insured by a private insurer as these are not covered by the FDIC, NCUA, or any financial institution.

Each year, hundreds of bank customers report having valuables removed from their safe deposit boxes or find them accidentally rented out to other people.

And don't forget about limited access.

Any branch can close their brick and mortar location on a whim. Then what?

What stuff you shouldn't store there:

So, it's pretty much pointless.
Get a safe and install it in your home.
That's my recommendation.

That said, did you try those?

Also try Credit Unions.

We used a safe deposit box for years for some pseudo-valuables and it was hard to find one at the time; however, the major banks can check and see where the nearest available box is that their corporation has available. I would not go with a small bank for a safe deposit box.

That branch eventually closed down and we had to remove the items. If we had not removed them in the 12 month window, then the items would have been shipped to another location (in our case, Houston) and we would have had to eventually get them there.

We used it to protect the items from fire and home theft, as much as anything, which both are much lower risk than keeping them anywhere at home.

I see your point about cash and jewelry, however I was looking for a place to store our passports and other similar documents to keep them safe from burglary when we travel.

Keep your passports safe when you travel? Don’t you need them the most at that point?

What would a "run of the mill" burglar do with a stolen passport?

Sell it to some non-'run of the mill' *********, who would then steal your identity and spend lots of money in your name...

'fraud ster' is apparently taboo?
