I think one of the the things Austin's music scene is missing is a large concert venue where many shows each year can be produced-- like Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in San Antonio. I am a big fan of the kinds of bands that tour and play at these large arenas. (Yes I know that's not Austin music, but Austin's supposed to be inclusive so don't judge me for my power ballad oriented taste )

I think we could attract more big touring acts to add some variety if we had something like that. The Backyard, when it was open used to attract good acts, but now with it gone we have nothing. (No Zilker Park doesn't count because The Stones played there-- Neither does Erwin.). At the backyard I saw Journey, the Doobies, REO Speedwagon, Tears for Fears, Bob Dylan, Willie, and a number of other great national acts.
