Hobart is filled with gorgeous architecture and interesting history. And I love the Salamanca Markets with all the lovely hand crafts.

My only complaint is the isolation. It's a bit of a trip back to the Mainland. I also found the people very unfriendly but on the whole Australians are a less friendly bunch than us Kiwis
I find the Tasmanians the friendliest people in Australia i haven't been to NZ so i cannot comment on that one, you are correct about everything else though it is beautiful. It is only an hours flight from Hobart to Melbourne and two hours to Sydney.

Have you always lived in Tasmania?

I wasn't 100% serious, esp since I've never been there, only going on what I've heard.....it was a comment a celebrity made about a far south town in New Zealand.
Lets just say he wasn't complimenting the town!

I'm sure it was just because I was a traveling RN and only there for a brief period. It's hard to make friends in such a short period of time.

All in all however I loved the place. Here is one of my photos of the amazing Port Arthur site.

Port Arthur has become somewhat infamous for the events that occurred there in 1996.

you mean the spree killing at a lodge or outside lounge ?

I spent a weekend on Tasmania when I was in Australia several years ago. I enjoyed my time there very much which included a visit to see the local wildlife.

Visiting celebrities' opinions on towns aren't worth reporting. This description has been applied to countless places by disgruntled individuals who require constant stimulation and laid-on jollies.
