Here are the pictures anyway. I know wagons aren't exactly "cool" but I love the lines of this car.
I love wagons - once I move to the DC area I'm going to start a real search for a 1960 Ford wagon. I've got two sets of twins, and they all can't fit in the thunderbird!
That wagon is a good looking start, to bad you had to let it go. I understand that though, I had a pair of 1950 Ford sedans (flatheads forever!) that I had to let go when the second set of twins was born.
Haven't even had the chance to take new pics. First it was disassembled in the garage, and now it's "out" being worked on...won't get HER back until next Fri.

Thank you....rain is the only thing that will ever keep us from taking her out. Heat and cold don't really bother us in the least.
merc63; I would love to someday own a 1963 Mercury Comet! Those are great cars, I also like the early 60s Mercury Monterey. I will later post a picture of a 63 Comet and a 63 Monterey for comparison.

I used to have a 66 VW Beetle in Sea Blue with White interior, but I sold it. I now have a 1973 Mercury Cougar with a 351c, electronic ignition, dual flow master exhaust, new paint, interior, top, bumpers, and crager SS rims. The steering wheel in the pictures has been replaced with a grant gt wheel
I have four cars... two are early 70s models, the others are 1990 (Buick) and 1995 (Lincoln) models. I guess the 1990 could be considered a classic? lol.
Here are my old ones...
1972 Chevrolet Caprice Kingswood Estate wagon (it has the 402 big block option, as well as the 9-passenger (3rd seat) option, A/C, tilt wheel, AM radio, luggage rack, deluxe wheel covers and towing package.... (undergoing restoration)

My other oldie is a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville 4dr hardtop... grandmas old car... I have been driving it since 2003... occasionally as a daily driver. I have NEVER had any problems with this car except the alternator had to be replaced when I got it wet once when I washed the engine.... even the power windows still work.
Its getting though to where it will need to be restored soon if I keep it. Still totally rust free...

I believe it might have had to do with "sharing" during the early 70's. if you remember, the Chevy 400 small block came out for the full size cars and trucks in 1970, the same year they were calling the 396 big block (which was now really a 402 from the factory) a 396....but then....in 1971, Chevy decided to rename the 396 a "400 4 barrel" while they called the small block 400 a "400 2 barrel". So you had to know the difference between the two. Then finally in 1972 they decided to finally call the engine a 402. But I guess they didn't want to come out with any new emblems to represent it as such.
Maybe it had something to do with they didn't want to make people think the smaller block was bigger than the bigger block, but they kept the 396 name for 1970 due to marketing, because back then everyone thought of it as a hot engine due to it's (then) good reputation of being a performance engine. So they should have either kept it a 396 name for the next two years or just call it a 402 to keep from confusing everyone. But I guess that's what you get when you let monkeys run the show.
