A few years ago I was in the middle of Nevada on my way home in a Corvette Z06. Long straightaways and not a soul in sight. Lets just say I had my car performing at its maximum possible potential

I'm sure these speeds were all on racetracks .
As for me I did 120 mph on a very straight stretch of road in the middle of nowhere. It was still pretty scary, I definitely wouldn't do it in a city environment. I probably don't do it again, it felt like the smallest turn could cause me to spin. That pretty much was the max my car could do.
Can't drive at Mach 1, and a T-38 won't do that with the wheels on the ground...try again, however you've probably tied me for touch down speed...but to do that in my bird, we were coming in HOT! For you, you'd be coming in on speed. lol.
193 mph in a Pro Stock Probe with a 7.28 E.T., and whatever 5800 rpm , 5 speed T-5 with a 28" tall tire and 2.29 rear gear comes out to in a 78 Grand Prix I had built for a nice daily driver.
No. Not at all. 110 on 1-10 couple hundred miles south of El Paso. Huge open road, no one around. You know, unlike the other two cars, it took a bit longer to get up there, but there was no rattling or unsteady feeling at all. I drive that thing on roads where the speed limit is 70 all the time, so I've routinely done over 80 in it.
2002 Explorer. V6. 4 door. Nothing special.
Not only that, but it's been an awfully stable car...don't ask me how fast I've taken a corner in it and not even feel it sway.
I once had a little Ford Escort fall in on my tail in West Texas and he stayed right with me, step for step, from about Abilene to Weatherford. We never got under 90 and spent a good deal of that time over a 100. I really didn't think his little 4-cylinder motor could stand the pace, but it did.
